ACE Gabon will act as the Landing Party in Gabon, providing both domestic resources and investment as well as continuous operational and maintenance support in Gabon and its territorial waters for the lifetime of the cable, expected to be 25 years. ACE Gabon will also own rights along the trunk of the Medusa system, enabling it to provide regional and international broadband services to enterprises in Gabon and the people of Gabon.
The agreement was signed by the CEO of ACE Gabon, Mr Cyriaque Didier KOUMA and the CEO of Medusa Africa, Mr Norman Albi, demonstrating a shared commitment to advancing digital transformation and economic development in Gabon. The landing of the Medusa cable in Port-Gentil will strengthen the nation’s connectivity ecosystem, providing businesses and consumers with improved broadband services and fostering innovation across multiple sectors.
Aujourd’hui, si on tourne autour de 20 Tb, avec Medusa, nous sommes dans l’ordre de 400 Tb , said Mr Cyriaque Kouma, CEO of ACE Gabon.
The Medusa Submarine Cable System, designed to strengthen intercontinental connectivity, will now extend further into West Africa. This strategic expansion enhances interconnectivity between the Atlantic and the Mediterranean, mitigating potential saturation from increasing connectivity demands. Furthermore, it will improve redundancy and bolster resilience across critical networks. The agreement with ACE Gabon is a crucial step in ensuring Gabon benefits from high-capacity and resilient international connectivity added Mr. Albi, CEO of Medusa Africa.
